View All DealsHolidays to Pastida offer you a chance to sample typical Greek village life. Its inland setting on the northern tip of Rhodes is quiet and restful, but with easy access to the beaches and nightlife at Kremasti, just a five-minute drive to the north.
Pastida is a typically quiet village. Here, life revolves around the village square and its handful of tavernas. Cars aren't allowed here, so you can wander the narrow streets in peace and safety. This makes it great for families, too. The pace of life is always relaxed, and you’re surrounded by citrus trees and olive groves. The village boasts a very good Bee Museum, where you'll learn all about the bees and sample their honey.
Kremasti beach is only five minutes’ drive from town, with a long stretch of sandy shingle. Brollies and loungers are available and you'll see a few beach bars and tavernas along the waterfront. A 25-minute drive will take you to Kalithea, where you can relax in peace in its secluded sandy cove. At the other end of the scale, the party beach at Faliraki is a 20-minute drive away. Here you'll find a string of bars booming out music.
Rhodes Town is also only 20 minutes’ drive. Here you can visit the medieval castle of the Knights Hospitallers and their 14th-century walled city. The Archaeological Museum is housed in their original Hospital and is well worth a visit due to the cool burial finds and mosaics on display. The Colossus of Rhodes once spanned the harbour as one of the world's Seven Wonders, but now it's good just to admire the view of the view over the Mediterranean while eating a traditional Rhodes lunch of chtapodokeftedes, which is a type of rolled octopus ball.
