Holidays to Pefkos take you to Rhodes' Mediterranean coastline. These getaways offer chilled-out evenings in the local Greek tavernas and lazy days on the town's Blue Flag beach.
Set on the east coast of Rhodes, Pefkos is named after the pine trees that fringe its sandy beach. It used to be a fishing village, and still keeps its old-fashioned charm and slow pace of life. There are two main streets lined with bars and restaurants, but it's not a party resort. You're more likely to find friendly conversation, a game of backgammon, and ouzo aperitifs than all-night parties. A couple of bars do have a DJ or karaoke, but if you're looking for something livelier you'll want to go to Lindos, which is a 10-minute drive away.
Pefkos’ Blue Flag beach is 500 metres of sand curved around a small bay, with shallow water and a pine forest backdrop. Further out, you can discover some rocky coves for swimming or snorkelling. There are also a few more beach areas within walking distance. The sandy beaches at Lindos are only a 10-minute drive from Pefkos, and watersports in the area range from boat trips and diving to jet-skiing and windsurfing.
It takes just over an hour to drive the 52 kilometres to Rhodes Town, the UNESCO listed capital city. Ringed with medieval walls, the city contains a Street of the Knights and a fortress as well as a busy harbour. A little closer, Lindos also boasts a fortress and ruins dating back to the Bronze Age.
