Hand luggage

What is my hand luggage allowance?

You can take 1 piece of hand luggage per person (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg and with maximum dimensions of 55x40x20cm. Things like laptops, handbags and items bought at the airport must fit within your 1 piece of hand luggage. You must be able to lift your hand luggage into the overhead storage compartments yourself. Can I use personal electronic devices on a TUI Airways flight?

Personal Electronic Devices

You can use e-books, smartphones, and other handheld personal electronic devices at any time during your flight unless you're told otherwise by the crew - as long as they're switched to 'Flight Safe Mode' or 'Airplane Mode'. That said, please make sure you listen carefully to the safety briefing by the cabin crew. If you're carrying larger devices like laptops and larger tablets, you'll be able to use them during the flight, but they'll need to be switched off for take-off and landing and stowed away. You'll need to take these items out of your hand luggage before you get to the security search point. This is because they'll need extra screening. If any of your electronic devices can't be switched to 'Flight Safe' or 'Airplane Mode', they'll need to be switched off completely throughout the flight.

Electronic cigarettes

You're not allowed to use electronic cigarettes on the plane at all, although they can be carried in hand luggage.

What are the airport security checks for electronic devices?

If you're carrying any electronic devices in your hand luggage that are capable of holding a charge, you'll need to make sure they're fully charged when you go through airport security.

We recommend you keep things like mobile phones switched on until you board the plane, as there might be more checks at the departure gate.

Diabetics

You can carry insulin and a pen injection device in your hand luggage - but you'll need to let us know about it when you check in. You'll also need to show a doctor's letter or approved diabetic card. It's best you carry them with you even if you don't think you'll need them during the flight, in case of delays.
