    Best time to go to Venice

    If you’re hoping to catch a share of the warmest weather, your best bet is to visit Venice in the summer, when temperatures hit around 30 degrees. Spring’s a little cooler – you can expect the mercury to sit closer to the low twenties. As for autumn, it’s usually a comfortable temperature, and fog adds an extra layer of mystique to the waterways. The city’s pretty in winter, too – just make sure you wrap up warm, as it’s not uncommon for temperatures to hover just above freezing.

    Passports & Visas

    Health & Safety

    You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving Ireland. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Italian nationals. It won't, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
