Holidays to Prazeres sweep you away to the south of Madeira, to a peaceful village that’s not too far from Funchal.
The peaceful village of Prazeres sits in the south of Madeira, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. It’s got scenes worthy of a spot on the grid, with palm trees and wildflowers adding a splash of colour to a backdrop of rolling mountains. The main talking point here’s a small white chapel that’s perched on a hillside, known as the Our Lady of Neves Church. Just by it, there’s a mill brewing fresh cider and a tearoom where you can treat yourself to a glass or two.
Hiking’s kind of a big deal in Madeira. There are loads of routes to trundle along, many of them taking you through pine forests and past waterfalls. And as you can imagine, there are plenty of photo ops, so be sure to clear some space in your camera roll before you set off. One of the trails closest to Prazeres takes you down a waterside route to the area of Raposeira Do Logarinho. Eucalyptus trees will fill the air with a fresh scent as you catch a glimpse of picturesque woodland valleys along the way. You’ll find a couple of bars and restaurants when you get there, so you can relax and recharge before your journey back.
