View All DealsFlying direct from Dublin and Cork, holidays to Praia da Oura offer a quiet seaside resort just up the road from bustling Albufeira. Seafood eateries and laidback bars line up along the beachfront, and if you want some nightlife, the lively Strip is a short walk away.
Praia da Oura is located on Portugal’s Algarve coast. It’s a relaxed resort with stylish seafood eateries and quiet bars along the seafront. There are plenty of sandy beaches to stretch out on. While it’s only 35 minutes on foot from the bustling city of Albufeira, the place has a secluded vibe. If you venture into the city, you can party on the renowned Strip and wander the cobbled streets of the old town, checking out the shops and galleries. By night, Praia da Oura maintains its laidback vibe. You can while away the hours in a seafront bar, sipping a cocktail as the sun goes down.
Praia da Oura's main appeal is its long, wide beach. When the tide is low, you can walk the two kilometres to nearby Praia dos Olhos de Agua, where you’ll find a gently sloping coastline and two waterside eateries. On another day, walk the 20 minutes to Fisherman’s Beach in Albufeira. Here, you can paddle in the shallow sea and peruse the brightly-coloured fishing boats.
If you drive 30 minutes to the east, you’ll reach the old town of Loule. The real gem here is a 13th-century castle which overlooks the town and the Algarve landscape. It’s in remarkably solid condition, with three impressive towers still intact. Alternatively, take a slightly longer drive – 40 minutes – to Faro. This medieval city has an impressive 13th-century cathedral in the centre.
