Seychelles holidays are the ideal mixture of silk-white sandy beaches and lush green jungles
The Seychelles is made up of 115 islands which float in the Indian Ocean. They’re more than 1,500 kilometres from Africa’s east coast – you can’t get much more remote than that. The islands’ secluded location gives the place a unique feel that honeymooners and celebrities love. And the beach and forests look untouched, which means you’ll rarely see a crowd of people.
The only thing all of the Seychelles’ beaches have in common is their sugary white sand – other than that, each one is slightly different. Anse Source d’Argent is one of the most photographed beaches, thanks to its barrier of smooth boulders and looming palm trees. Anse Lazio, meanwhile, is a popular spot because of its shady takamaka trees and excellent snorkelling conditions. Anse Intendance gets a big thumbs up from surfers, for its big rolling waves – it’s also a spot turtles like to nest, so keep your eyes peeled if you go there.
The Seychelles weren’t just gifted with idyllic beaches, they’ve also got jungles packed full of wildlife. Morne Seychellois National Park, on Mahe Island, is home to giant fruit bats, while Bird Island lives up to its name. It’s a colourful aviary, with green turtles making a cameo, too. Off land, you’ve got waters full of coral reefs – Anse Lazio Beach is a great place to go for snorkelling, where you could see blue-spotted ribbontail rays, moray eels and bluefin trevally.
