Enormous sandy beaches, a volcanic national park, and pretty seaside towns define holidays to Costa Calma, one of the most serene resorts in the Canary Islands.
Set at the northern end of the extraordinary Jandia peninsula, Costa Calma lives up to its name with its laidback beach town vibes. Its vast white sand beach would be enough to secure it as a top getaway, but Costa Calma doesn’t just rest on its shoreline credentials. It has a lively waterfront, easy access to both the capital and Jandia Natural Park, and surf that will make you want to pick up a board and ride those waves.
The Jandia Natural Park is home to many species of plant and animal that are only found in the Canaries. Here, you can hike through the volcanic landscape up to the summit of Pico de la Zarza, some 800 metres high, and look out across Fuerteventura and the Atlantic Ocean. If hiking isn’t your thing, explore the pristine beaches of Sotavento instead.
Costa Calma is in an ideal location for exploring the rest of Fuerteventura, as nowhere is more than an hour and a half's drive away. Fancy shopping? The capital, Puerto del Rosario is a shopping and dining hotspot. Want to hit the clubs? Corralejo is where you'll find some of the island’s biggest party spots. Looking for an authentic slice of Fuerteventura? Check out La Oliva, where traditional marketplaces sell artisanal goods.
