First holiday in 9 years
We landed at 11pm and reception was friendly and bright, they took our passports off us and sorted out the rooms for all that landed, because of the time we arrived they had laid on food for us to have after we had taken our luggage to our rooms, which was lovely. We had a 6th floor room and each site had two lifts so you we're never waiting for one, each room was specious, cleaned everyday even though they say it is not cleaned on a Wednesday, tv, wifi, aircon, decent walk in shower, comfy bed, plenty of mirrors and a hairdryer that was adequate, plus two bath towels and two hand towels. You received a map of the complex and times of when the restaurant opened and closed and so too for the snack bar. Tropical beer, red, white and rose wine along with fresh juices and fizzy drinks all are self service, cocktails, spirits and prosecco were served by the many staff. We never found a problem finding 4 sun loungers together in the sun and yes they were all lined up together, nobody seemed to mind. You could not want for anything for breakfast, there was so much on offer, same for the rest of the meal times in the restaurant, snack bar is open pretty much all day after breakfast time. The entertainment staff worked tirelessly all day and night with big smiles on their faces. The only downside was we kept asking for a late check out, 12noon we had to leave the room and our pick up was at 9:10pm, but they kept telling us to come back and ask again, which they must have known they were fully booked, we got an half hour shower slot in the courtesy room, which is pretty awful when your stuck for 10 hr without a room in 33 degree heat. Hope I have covered everything.More
very enjoyable two weeks
Just returned from a two week holiday with my husband at the Waikiki and have too say we could find very little to complain about. Check in was quick and easy, we where in our room within five minutes, we stayed in block D overlooking the restaurant. The food in the restaurants was good always could find something to eat though does become a bit repetitive over two weeks. We spent our days in the adults area where we never had a problem getting a sunbed, the only problem with this area was that it was supposed to be adults only but some parents thought it was ok to bring their kids in there, but the lifeguard would quickly move them out ,but some still tried sneaking in again. The only small niggle we had was the evening entertainment, the entertainment team perform their shows in the theatre which is below ground, they try very hard but to be honest it,s not good. In the two weeks we were there they, had entertainment come in from outside the hotel and they performed on the open air stage outside the pool bar, everybody seemed to enjoy this and got involved and sang along,I think perhaps this should happen at least 2-3 times per week. Lastly all the staff in whatever job they do are very polite and go about their jobs very efficiently. We would return to this hotel if we found a deal at the right price we paid this year.More
The hotel is lovely. We arrived late 1130pm and wasn't expecting to be able to get food but the restaurant was open with cold meats rolls and soup which was fab. We travelled in a group and our 3 rooms were all next to each other in c block. The rooms were all very clean and the maids did a fantastic job throughout our stay. There is air conditioning in the rooms but we left our balcony door open instead. The food is all Buffett style and it can get busy in the restaurant everyone everywhere with no queuing system and the food does get a little repetitive but there are lovely restaurants just 10 minutes away if you fancy a change (we ate out a few nights in the second week). Soft drinks are self service and the snack bar by the pool kept the kids going during the day. The pool area is lovely and clean as well and there are containers dotted about for used cups and plates. We did not struggle to get beds by the pool there are some areas that get more sun than others so they are taken early but there was beds available at most times during the day. There is an adult only area and a lady that does massage is in that area. My partner had a few during our stay and said she was excellent. The children's pool was also fab for the little ones and there was drinks machine just outside there so we didn't have to walk all the way down to the bar when we needed a drink. The animation team work extremely hard throughout the day/night with activities such as shooting water polo, darts, volleyball, football, aqua gym and you quite see them doing a little routine to give you a giggle around the pool or restaurant. We did not go downstairs to see any evening entertainment, we sat outside and only a couple of nights there was a singer on stage so the outside area is lacking evening entertainment. There was only a couple of little niggles that we had about our stay. My partner gets up very early and there was nowhere to gave a coffee or water before restaurant opened and so we had to buy a little kettle for drinks and reception said yes to opening the gym early one morning (normally open 8-8) as we was going out on an excursion and then in the morning said no. All in all a lovely stay and would recommend this hotel.More

3.5 star hotel, clean, modern, bright, amazing pool and lovely staff all round!
We wanted a week in the sun, by the pool, relaxing and this is exactly what we got. The hotel is not a luxury 4 star but it is clean, fresh and modern. Cannot fault the staff, they were all lovely. We arrived around 21:00 and were given wrist bands to allow us to go grab dinner before it closed and we checked in after we ate which was thoughtful. The reception is very welcoming. Our room was in block A which is above reception. There was no issues with noise and we were glad we had this block as it was handy going in and out the hotel. Our room was 406, which was directly above the entrance to the hotel so we could see the sea - no issues with noise. There is two elevators which we used to go up mostly and we used the stairs to come down. ROOM. Our room was exactly like the photographs, perhaps slightly bigger. The rooms have plenty hangers, a desk, chair, small unit, coffee table and arm chair, flat screen tv, bathrobes, slippers, plenty towels, typical small hotel hairdryer, shower gel, shampoo and soap. I have severe issues with bathrooms and can say our bathroom was clean, the rain shower is amazing, literally the best shower ive had in a hotel. The balcony has a table and chairs. We has no issues with the size of the room, standard for a standard room to be honest. POOL. I am going to assume the bed situation has been resolved as I am sitting by the pool at the moment and can see plenty of empty beds and the hotel is currently at full capacity. Our first morning we came down about 8:20 with only a handful of towels on beds. For those wanting beds by the pool, the beds adjacent to the pool toilets get the sun 10:00 - 16:00, beds at the back and on the side of the pool adjacent to the hotel buildings, the sun doesn’t get these beds until late morning but it does last longer. Note water polo is played on the back half of the pool in the afternoon, so I would recommend the beds by the toilets as they are good for the toilets and pool bar and the sun! There is water aerobics daily which is good fun. Lilos are allowed in the pool which I had never experienced before but it was fun to float about. I bought mine from the shops by the beach. RESTAURANTS. Moving on to the restaurant, breakfast had everything, you need to put the bread in twice or you just get warm bread. I made a cheese, ham and onion toastie each morning for breakfast. We had lunch in the restaurant once but as I’m very fussy we resorted to the pool bar which has burgers, hotdogs, pizza, soup, garlic bread, chips, plenty salad (lettuce, cabbage, diced onion, shredded onion, tomato etc) and a small selection of cakes and ice cream every day. Donner kebabs were available on the Wednesday of our stay which were amazingly! Lunch was my favourite meal. Dinner has delicious soup every night, crusty rolls, lots of meats, fish, salad, burgers, chips and pizza. There was a very good selection at night and as a fussy couple there was only one night we resorted to burger and chips as a safety option. The food changed every night other than the pizza, burgers and chips so it isnt repetitive. Cocktails and Cava are included within the all inclusive. CHECKOUT. Check out is 12pm, for a late checkout it is €50 but i think this is rarely avaialble. On check out you can book a shower room for half an hour and cases can be stored at reception. OUTSIDE HOTEL. Entertainment at night is poor but you are very close to the bars. We loved Ricky’s at yumbo which is about a 10 minute walk and €3.15 in a taxi. We also spent a night by the beach which we felt was more orientated to older people (we’re 25). 100% have a day at the beach as it’s massive and being in the sea on a lilo is fun! The beach is again only around a 10 minute walk and just over €3 in a taxi. Taxi rank is outside hotel and they are very clean. STAFF. Lastly, cleaners done a fantastic job and were friendly. Bar and restaurant staff were again very friendly and done an excellent job throughout the day. Animation staff have something for everyone and always seemed happy. Thank you Waikiki, we had a brilliant week only issue was not knowing when people were arriving to allow for a late checkout.More
The hotel was lovely and all staff were helpful and friendly. We had a lovely room on floor 7 in block D. Arrived late around 1.00 in the morning. The hotel had opened a small side of the restaurant and cold food and drinks were available for late arrivals, this was greatly welcomed and appreciated. Our room was lovely and modern and had a side view over the pool to the left and mountains to the right. The whole hotel is immaculate and the domestic staff work hard to keep this maintained. We chose to spend most of our relaxing time at the small area for over 18s, this was a lovely quiet spot with comfortable sunbeds and a lovely Jacuzzi. Food was ok but nothing special, plentifle with numerous options but did feel like a canteen rather than a restaurant with what seemed to be the occasional 'mystery meat' offering. Evening entertainment was only directed to small children throughout our 11 night stay. The out door stage was never used for more than bingo mid afternoon which was a shame. Loved the self service beer, wine and soft drink so easily accessible. The area where the hotel is situated is within short walks to beach, yumbo and Kasba. Personally we found the surrounding area and beach to be run down, unappealing and a disappointment and would not return to Gran Canaria. Hotel I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of play de ingles.More
