Step back in time with holidays to Guia de Isora, where you'll find traditional tavernas, pretty fishing villages, and secluded beaches.

Authentic Tenerife

Step back to a time before the Canaries became one of Europe's favourite destinations. Guia de Isora, on Tenerife’s western coastline, has maintained its authentic feel, despite the fact that it's fast becoming an island hot spot. The town starts in the foothills of Tenerife’s mountains and winds its way down to the coast. Here, you’re greeted by a pretty harbour, a swanky promenade, and a lovely beach.

Quiet stretches

Playa San Juan, a 15-minute drive away, is Guia de Isora’s stretch of sand. One side of this beach has a striking dark hue, and is composed of black volcanic sand and pebbles. The other softens to sand that's much lighter in colour. Next door is the pretty village of Alcala, which boasts its own stretch. This one is popular with windsurfers if you fancy something a little more active.

Homegrown fun

Guia de Isora has plenty to offer outside of its beaches though. You’ll discover that as soon as you wander down San Juan's palm-fringed promenade. The entire stretch is filled with restaurants and bars, many with open terraces to take advantage of the great view. In the main part of town up in the hills, the winding streets offer souvenir shops, food stores, and little boutiques.

Tour Tenerife

Explore the dramatic volcanic landscapes of Tenerife by spending a day hiking in the Mount Teide National Park. Or discover the tiny villages that nestle within the hills, such as Chirche and Chio. These look like they were plucked from a postcard with their cobbled lanes, whitewashed houses, and epic views out to sea.
