california garden hotel
ive just returned on the 10/10/2017 from a weeks stay at this hotel. The hotel I have to say was spotless and the bedrooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard. On reaching the hotel the booking in procedure was very slow and the girls lack of English was apparent.Eventually this was overcome and I was given the pass to room 224.The room was of a good size for 2 people,so being a solo traveller was very large. The bed linen and towels were all newly changed and the room once again was spotless..I was on a half board basis so the evening meal was my first venture into the dinning room.At the door you had to show a card with your room number on it this was checked against a clip board before entry.this room again was spotless and you sat wherever you wanted. There was a large and varied selection to chose from.I chose what I wanted and sat down to eat it.The first mouthful of food I had was stone cold, another visitor pointed to a microwave oven and said you will have to get used to using that. His opinion was spot on as all week the food was cold.Being honest the only thing I had hot was a chicken fritter of some sort..The dessert were the usual Spanish mixture with ample amounts of fresh fruits. The following morning the breakfast was the same plenty of choice but once again everything was cold.I just cant comprehend having cold food when it should be served hot..Free internet was available in the hotel but it was very limited access to anything and a charge of 6 euro per day was payable via a machine for full internet use..I never used the bar/show facilities. The reception does not provide any money exchanging of any sort.On Thursday night a large number of French youths were in the hotel and stayed there for a couple of nights. It was absolute carnage with them all night they were running up and down corridors screaming and slamming doors. It stopped anyone else getting to sleep. The following night it started again and several guests were complaning when I got there after midnight..The security guard seeing the large amount of protests did his best and to be fair he did to a point get the noise down to a acceptable level..My opinion is mine alone the hotel is spotless, the food of a decent standard but and it is a big but always cold.More
What do people want ?
We spent a week at this hotel and could find very little to complain about Check in was fine and staff friendly . The room which was spotlessly clean and was cleaned every day the towels were changed when requested (leaving them in the bath ) Breakfast was what you would expect an English fry up or cold buffet and cereal Evening meal was great, plenty of choice including 2 or 3 types of meat and fish ,salad and soup available every night. The staff and cleaners were all very pleasant The position of the hotel was great not right on the beach but in the middle of everything going on with plenty of bars and restaurants near by . When I see so many negative comments I don't understand what people expect it's a perfectly adequate 3 star hotel at 3 star prices and would we stay here again. If you want 5 star then pay the price More
I was a bit dubious about my stay here after reading other reviews about this property but tried to keep an open mind. Rooms quite spacious, we had 3 single beds in ours with only 2 of us staying, room cleaned daily and towels changed every other day. Beds changed weekly. Food was terrible, same things repeated regularly, and the restaurant very cramped kind of a free for all, go in find a table and sit down. I even suffered a bout of food poisoning. Entertainment wise it seemed to be catered towards the Spanish people as opposed to other nationalities. If I return to salou I don't think I'd stay here again.More
The hotel was ok, rooms kept clean no complaints there and staff very good. The same cannot be said about the food choices, very repetitive. More choice would have been nice, you wouldn't go hungry, especially if you like fish. Also rooms at the front have a bust road outside it's better overlooking the pool.More
