Holidays to Karon Beach are a spice-of-life sort of getaway. In the space of a day you can sunbathe on a 3-mile beach, trek through the jungle, and make it back for street-style seafood.
Karon is home to the second largest beach on Phuket. It’s just under 2 miles long, which makes it only a few metres shorter than Patong’s stretch of sand. There are watersports on offer, but the sea is far from congested. In fact, this part of the Andaman coast is known as the best place in Phuket for windsurfing, and riders are never short of room to manoeuvre in the water.
There’s a good range of places to eat in Karon Beach. You’ll find a collection of family-friendly Thai and seafood restaurants near the roundabout, close to the north end of the beach.
On the nightlife front, Karon is known as Patong’s little sister, because it’s got a similar but slightly scaled down offering. On Patak Road you’ll find everything from sports bars and Irish pubs to reggae bars and live music lounges.
