Hotels shaped like cities, mega-sized casinos and neon-lit nightlife are all firmly on the forecast on Las Vegas holidays.
Las Vegas offers city breaks like no other place we know – this diamond in the desert is in a league of its own when it comes to nightlife, luxe hotels and top-end dining. Everything’s centred around a main strip which stretches for more than four miles through the centre of the city. It’s the place where high-end hotels mix with beat-thumping nightlife spots and huge casinos. Most of our hotels come with postcodes that land you on the strip, so you’ll never be too far from the action.
Everything comes with an XL label in Sin City – you’ve got iconic hotels such as Caesars Palace which sports double digit dining options and a spa almost the same size as a football pitch. Then there’s its collection of casinos – the one at the Wynn and Encore complex on the north end of the strip is the biggest of the bunch, with almost 2,000 games to try your luck at. Plus, shopping fans can feast on huge shopping malls which are often fitted with more than 100 shops.
Although it’s New York that’s known as the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas barely stops for some shut eye, either. You’ll find lists of the city’s after-dark hotspots in hotels which are often fitted with swanky bars and nightclubs. Casinos see flurries of footfall once the sun’s set on Sin City, too. They’re not you’re only options though – there’s a host of high-octane Cirque du Soleil shows and the city’s no stranger to a residency from a chart-topping artist or two.
Once you’re inside the Las Vegas bubble, you’ll probably find it hard to believe that it takes its place right in the middle of a desert. Take a step outside either end of the strip and you’ll notice a sharp change of scenery, with neon lights replaced by roads sandwiched by sandy desert landscapes. It’s well worth leaving luxury behind for the day though, as you’re only a two-and-a-half-hour trip from the Grand Canyon’s west rim.
