View All DealsHolidays to St Lawrence offer you unspoilt tropical beaches, unbeatable views and the island's hottest nightlife. Combining the beauty of the Caribbean with its colonial history, Barbados is a dream destination.
Visiting St Lawrence is a bit like stepping into a trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean. The white sand beaches are lined with palm trees, and turn gently pink as they shelve into the sea. Around the island are sugar plantations, coral reefs and caves, and beaches where you just don't want to be rescued.
St Lawrence also has cricket pitches, rum shacks and reggae, mostly in the area of St Lawrence Gap. This is also where you'll find restaurants and dancehalls, and the throb of island nightlife. You can pick from a line-up of international restaurants, including fast food and pizza as well as Jamaican and seafood grills. The Gap revs up at night, when people from all over the island come to visit its rum shacks and party in the nightclubs.
The capital of Barbados is Bridgetown, only 10 minutes’ drive away. You can explore the island's history at the 17th-century Garrison, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are lots of old British army buildings here. and the Barbados Museum, which used to be the military prison. You might be surprised to find a cricket ground called the Kensington Oval, and a race track where you can watch the horses. There's a yacht club at the port, and at Carlisle Bay you can find six shipwreck dive sites.
