Holidays to Laganas are your ticket to lazy days and late nights. As well as a first-rate beach, this place lines up more bars and clubs than you can squeeze into a fortnight.
A party town
Laganas, over on Zante’s south-east side, is the big boy of the island. It’s the largest, liveliest place around these parts and pulls in a young party crowd. In terms of layout, the resort is quite spread out among olive groves and orchards, but you won’t miss the action – it fires up along the beach and on Golden Mile, the bar-and-club-lined main strip.
Long and lively nights
This place is loud and proud, with karaoke, quiz nights and theme nights all on the cards. The main event, though, is the clubbing – trance, hip hop and R ’n’ B are all pumped out, along with free shots. The partying starts early and doesn’t stop ’til sun-up.
Head down the main strip and you get to the long, sandy beach. If you fancy a walk, it stretches all the way to neighbouring Kalamaki, about 4 kilometres to the east. Not that there’s much need to move – the line-up of seafront shops, bars and restaurants has got the essentials covered.
Close to Keri
Fifteen minutes’ drive from Laganas and you’re in the mountainside village of Keri. This peaceful little place is a collection of tiny streets and traditional stone houses, with a couple of cafés for coffee breaks. If you walk to the beach, you’ll find a good haul of harbour-side tavernas and bars. From here, head south for about 10 minutes and you’ll catch one of the best sunsets on the island.
