The real Zante

While Zante’s purpose-built resorts are fun and exciting, they’re a world apart from the real Zante. And the real Zante is exactly what you get in Vassilikos. There are no mass developments here, just traditional restaurants and tavernas, and tiny shops selling all sorts of souvenirs and trinkets. The lack of big resorts means that nature dominates, with olive groves and pine forests leading up the slopes of Mount Skopos.

Swimming & sunbathing

While Vassilikos may be small, it certainly has a large number of beaches. From Banana Beach to Sekania Beach, and everything in between, you’ll have a lot of choice. Some of the beaches at Vassilikos are small and quiet. There’s nothing to do except relax with a good book while gazing out over the water. Others are more lively, with watersports and breezy promenades lined with beach bars and restaurants.

Explore on foot

One of the best ways to get around Vassilikos and the surrounding area is on foot. There are many local walking trails which guide you through some of Zante’s most picturesque scenery. One trail takes you through the island’s famous white sandstone mountains. Another takes you to the quiet peninsula beyond Gerakas Beach. Here, you may be lucky enough to spot loggerhead turtles nesting in summer.
