Holidays to Kiotari are a low-key affair. There's a long beach, some traditional Greek tavernas, and laidback bars. It's also just a 20-minute drive to historic Lindos if you fancy a change of pace.
Kiotari is a newish resort on the south-eastern coast of Rhodes, with a long beach and several seafront hotels. A few Greek tavernas and bars are springing up to serve traditional meals and snacks like stuffed cyclamen leaves, and it even boasts a relaxing spa and a chic cocktail lounge. On the whole, though, Kiotari has a down-to-earth atmosphere where you can relax and soak up the Greek sunshine in comfort.
Kiotari's big attraction is its four-kilometre long Blue Flag beach. The water is calm between the sandy areas and the more pebbly end, and it's good for swimming. The sea can often get busy from the centre to the north of the point with watersports like windsurfing and jet-skiing. You can try out everything from pedalos to parasailing. There are also plenty of nearby beaches along the coast, including Pefkos and Lindos. You can reach both in about 25 minutes by car.
Kiotari has many local attractions. These include the traditional whitewashed village of Gennadi, about 10 minutes’ drive to the south. A similar distance will bring you to Asklipion, where you'll find medieval castle ruins, a Byzantine church and a folklore museum. Half an hour gets you to historic Lindos, with its famous Acropolis featuring ruins up to 3,000 years old. It's a steep climb, but well worth it for the Mediterranean views from the top.
