Baia Sardinia is a lively town plotted on Sardinia’s northeastern coast – also known as the Emerald Coast, to reflect the deep green colour of the sea. It’s a fairly small place, but the town’s popularity is constantly growing. The town square is the focus here. It’s lined with hotels, shops, bars and restaurants, all close to a number of white sandy bays. Plus, it’s just a 10-minute drive away from upmarket Porto Cervo.

Sheltered bays

The beaches around the town have curved white sandy shores with tall, green-smothered cliffs on either side to shield the area from the big emerald-coloured waves. Some of the coves make for a great spot to try out watersports like windsurfing and sailing. Spiaggia Libera beach is only a five-minute stroll from the centre of town, so you’re not far from restaurants and bars, either.

Picturesque pink islands

Look out over the horizon from Baia Sardinia, and you’ll see a cluster of 60 islands. This is La Maddalena Archipelago National Park. The whole area takes up more than 20,000 hectares of sea and land, and it’s all protected under a geo-marine park status. If you head to the coast, you can get a boat ride over to see what the untouched islands have to offer. There’s Spiaggia Rosa Beach, which has rose-coloured sand, thanks to the crushed fossils, crystals and coral that have been scattered over the shores throughout the years.

Celeb-spotting daytrips

Stays in Baia Sardinia also set you up nicely for daytrips to celebrity-approved town of Porto Cervo – it’s only a 10-minute drive away. This charming seaside spot has become a favourite for celebs, thanks to its booming nightlife. Chiacchiere Square is the crowning jewel here, full of bars and restaurants, with a plush marina dotted with luxury yachts, too. The area is decorated with red roses and peppered with high-end boutiques.
