Ca'n Picafort holidays serve up a 13-kilometre stretch of golden syrup-coloured sand on the north coast of Majorca.
It was once a tiny fishing village, but today Ca’n Picafort’s all about the beach – a long stretch of soft sand shelving down into a shallow, vodka-clear bay. Sun worshippers give this place a big thumb’s up – the fact that it’s so long means no one needs to fight for towel space.
Stay in Ca’n Picafort in Spain, and you’ll find many of Majorca’s tourist attractions right on your doorstep. The beach resort of Alcudia’s a 20-minute drive north. Or visit the Son Real reserve, just outside Alcudia. It’s great for history buffs – you’ll get to see ruins of two watch towers, a cemetery and a whole Majorcan village.
This resort’s really grown since its fishing village days, yet the working harbour’s still a buzzing place to visit. Stroll along it and pop in and out of the souvenir shops, or grab a chair outside a bar and snap photos of colourful fishing boats sailing in to shore at the end of the day.
