Puerto Pollensa offers you a relaxing mix of old and new. The old port town has a chic new marina bordering long sandy beaches, and mountains that tempt many hikers. You can stroll along the coastal walkway known as Pine Walk to admire the scenery. It's overhung with pine trees, of course, and there are many bars and seafood restaurants. You'll have more restaurants and bars to choose from in the main square, where you can also visit the Wednesday market.

Beach choices

You'll have two beaches to choose from at Puerto Pollensa. Pollensa beach itself is almost two kilometres long, with warm shallow water and lots of watersports. Albercutx or Voramar Beach is a much smaller strip of white sand that runs along Pine Walk to Little Italy. It has an area of shallow water cordoned off for swimming, and offers natural shade from the trees.

Scenic excursions

The Serra de Tramuntana mountains form an imposing backdrop to the old town, built inland for protection. It's about 15 minutes' drive and you'll find traditional pale stone architecture, steep cobbled streets and a Roman bridge. You might also drive or take a bus for 30 minutes to the rugged peninsula of Cap de Formentor. There are some massive cliffs on the way that offer great views as they drop sharply into the sea.
