Family Holidays

Cala Santandria, Menorca

Holidays to Cala Blanca give you a beach, laid-back restaurants and great sunsets – then they throw in another seaside town and a nearby city for good measure.

Modern seaside town

As holiday resorts go, Cala Blanca’s a newbie. The town was built in the Nineties, as the tiny Balearic Island of Menorca's popularity sky-rocketed. And it’s certainly been designed with holidaymakers in mind. Take the seafront, for example – it’s loaded with restaurants, a pretty beach and a lido for sunset-gawping.

Cove-hopping

Cala Blanca’s beach scene is a two-for-one deal. The sheltered cove here is in big demand. It’s ringed by rocky cliffs, a lido and family-friendly restaurants – one of which boasts a pool with slides. And you’ve got another paddle-perfect cove next door in Cala Santandria – a 20-minute stroll away.

Culture-filled trips

If you’re after some history, try charming Ciutadella on for size. The former capital’s a 20-minute drive up the road. Locals know it as Vella i Bella, which translates as ‘old and beautiful’ – it won’t take you long to figure out why. It’s packed to the brim with Gothic-style cathedrals and churches. And the port’s pretty as a picture, too.
