Travel to Dalaman or Antalya

With its Blue Flag award and national park status, it’s not surprising that the Blue Lagoon in Olu Deniz is one of the most photographed beaches in the Mediterranean. Marmaris has a great helping of family hotels, too. Everything from high-speed jet skis to bungee jumping launch from the beach. Beach resort Antalya, meanwhile, is a great base for adventurous day trips. If the children don’t mind a bit of a climb, check out the stalagmite-packed Karain Cave.

Book a room in Izmir or Bodrum

Waterparks are Izmir’s speciality. There are over 20 rides to keep families busy at Adaland in Kusadasi. Plus, you can get lowered in to a cage and get up close and personal with the resident sharks. If you don’t fancy that, hire a snorkel and mingle with the tropical fish in the coral reef lagoon. Pick a hotel in Bodrum, on the other hand, and you’ll get a good dose of history. Take Bodrum Castle — it was built from one of the Ancient Wonders of the World, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus.
