Holidays to Tekirova reveal an easygoing town with a Blue Flag beach and mountainous countryside.

Peaceful Tekirova

Nature is the focal point in south-westerly town of Tekirova. A huge beach is spotted with hotels, while the rest of the town spreads north, slotting itself into the foothills of Mount Olympos. Since most people come here for a bit of R&R, it’s a peaceful place with just a sprinkling of restaurants and cafés. Pines blanket everything, hiding away hiking and biking trails that spider up into the Taurus mountain range.

Blue Flag beach

Tekirova’s claim to fame is its 6-kilometre-long beach. A handful of hotels share this pebble-and-sand stretch, handing out loungers, beach bars and watersports centres along the way. Jet-skiing, parasailing and banana boat rides all take to the waters, plus you can jump aboard snorkelling and dive trips to surrounding islands and coves.

Peaceful town and nearby Kemer

Away from the beach, Tekirova serves up an arcade stuffed with shops and a well-stocked Saturday market. In the evening, the place really lives up to its peaceful reputation – a cluster of seafood and Turkish restaurants are the liveliest joints in town. If you fancy a night out, Kemer is your best bet. Its taverns, clubs and rock bars are a 15-minute taxi ride away.

Ancient Phaselis and the Taurus Mountains

Phaselis – a pine-draped peninsula speckled with Roman ruins – is a 10-minute drive away. To get in on the outdoors action, head to next-door Beydaglari National Park. Its forested trails and rivers make it a honeypot for hikers and rafters. The base of the Olympos Teleferik cable car can be found here, too. It scales Mount Olympos, showing off snow-dipped peaks and the Med Sea.
