Best time to go to Madeira

Madeira’s weather usually stays in the double digits year-round, with an average in the mid-twenties between May and September. It cools off a little towards the winter months, but there’s still five hours of sunshine a day on average between December and February.

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving Ireland. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Portuguese nationals. It won't, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
