Zante racks up an impressive number of postcard-pretty sights. Smuggler’s Cove is the big one — an idyllic scoop of cliff-framed sand that can only be reached by boat. And although the beach is eye-catching, it’s the shipwreck that takes centre stage. The caves and arches of the Blue Grotto is another must-see by the coast. For a dose of history, travel to the Temple of Artemis in the centre of the island. It’s surrounded by pine forests that — according to Ancient Greek myth — were the hunting grounds of the goddess herself.
