As is expected, the best time to visit the Estoril Coast in Portugal is in July and August, when temperatures reach around 26°C. There are hot, dry summers, with beach-ready weather from May to September. The winter months are a little more unpredictable, but temperatures still sit at around 15°C in November, if you’re after some winter sun.
Irish citizens don’t need a visa to enter Portugal but must have a valid passport. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/portugal/
You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving Ireland. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Portuguese nationals. It won't, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
