Relax in Es Cana

Es Cana has the feel of an older Ibiza, with a lovely harbour, whitewashed houses, and sandy beaches. Set on the northeastern coast, this tranquil and picturesque town has an intimate feel, but you’d never describe it as sleepy. Its waterfront is peppered with trendy restaurants and beachside bars, and its weekly Hippy Market is a welcome injection of fun.

Ibiza is no stranger to markets, but the original, and the biggest is the one at Es Cana. It's officially called the Hippy Market at Punta Arabi, and this market is packed to the rafters with stalls selling handmade goods, such as jewellery, kaftans and bags. It also puts on entertainment acts, so don’t be surprised if you see someone playing the didgeridoo while you’re there.

Sheltered beaches

Es Cana cradles a crescent-shaped beach. It's one of the longest in the Balearics, at around 300 metres. Bordered by pine trees, the beach has soft gold sands which are lapped by cobalt waters. There are plenty of parasol-shaded sunbeds for sunbathers, but lots of watersports too, if you need a little action.

Go on day-trips

At only a 10-minute drive away, Santa Eulalia is Ibiza’s third-largest town. It's definitely worth a visit, given that it’s known for its shopping and fine dining. Or 30 minutes by car or bus will get you to Ibiza town, where you can find the island’s famous nightclubs, if you fancy a big night out.
