Playa de San Juan holidays

A visit to Alicante

Head along the coast for a 15-minute drive and you’ll reach the nearby coastal city of Alicante. There’s a buzzing nightlife and restaurant scene here, as well as many historic attractions to visit. You'll find a great selection of shops, with both local and international brands. If you’re in the mood for a boat trip on your holiday, head to the marina and catch an excursion boat to Isla Tabarca. This island is a favourite for snorkelling as the waters are protected. You’re likely to see plenty of great marine life. It also has a rich history, being a hangout for pirates until the late 18th century.

More than just beaches

There are many watersports options at Playa de San Juan, and there are also many other activities within 30 minutes’ car or taxi ride. Drive out to Villajoyosa town and have a tour of its well-known Valour Chocolate Factory. After you’ve eaten all the chocolate you can, challenge yourself to a hike up Maigmo Mountain. Seasoned climbers may wish to take on the whole trail. Beginners can take the car halfway up and walk the rest. During your walk, watch out for the spectacular sea views. For something a little different, the Terra Mitica theme park and the Rio Safari Park are both a 30-minute drive away.
