If you’re desperate to get away soon, our last minute holidays to Palma could be just what you need.
The waterfront
Lots of Palma hotels stick close to the coast road, which doubles as the Ocean Avenue of the city. Cyclists glide along the promenade, polished yachts and wooden fishing boats bob in the marina, and sandy beaches settle in the coves.
The old town
A mishmash of Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic architecture decorates the old town. Slim streets wind their way between closely stacked houses and palm-crowned courtyards. Wondering how to find it? Just look for the king-sized Gothic cathedral — the streets spider out from there.
The boulevards
Art Nouveau hotels and designer shops parade along the tree-lined shopping boulevard, Passeig des Born. High street shops like H&M and Mango also tuck themselves into the grand buildings, opening late into the night. It’s top people-watching territory — especially if you pull up a chair at one of the pavement cafés.
