Best time to go to Vienna

The weather in Vienna changes with the seasons. Thanks to its spot in the east of the country, it sees warmer temperatures than the mountainous regions, but you can still expect some snow in winter. Spring and autumn are good times to visit, as temperatures are mild and there’s not too much rain. In the summer, it’s a little warmer, with the mercury hovering somewhere in the 20s most of the time.

Health & Safety

You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving Ireland. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Austrian nationals. It won't, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment.
